Given that I have played the original Half-Life about 50 times since it was released, additionally 20-30 times HL2, I would say that in 2024 Black Mesa is fresh breath of air. It is darker, more scary, more challenging, require more attention and most importantly - it does not feel linear as much. I like it better than the original, it is more difficult. I am not saying the original is not good, but Black Mesa feels better, like the original should have been, if the technology was there at the time.

Hey there @PurpleColonel , great informative vid! Can I ask if you might know why they thought it was necessary to apply half of 80% of the given damage to Armor when they could just apply 40%. It just seems like a bit of an unnecessary step 🤔 Also, does the damage calculation in the video apply to all forms of damage, obviously excluding fall damage as you mentioned? i.e. Physical Damage (melee, gun shots...) and Energy Damage (bio, chemical, heat, electrical, radiation...)

I always loved the sprites, they felt like bugs or something coming through and turning Black Mesa into a nest of theirs, really giving the feeling that the facility is being repurposed by aliens in the hours just before it's nuked

Just HL2 Episode 1's Citadel Core section is enough to say that he should wear it: - Kleiner literally says "chamber will be bathed in radiation" when he mentions the core - The suit's hazard warning message So it means he would be seriously exposed to radiation at the very least, and at worst - Freeman should have been dead before he could even reach Alyx As for stalkers - they are literally bare bones with little to no cognitive functions, means radiation to them is less of a threat due to lesser chances of receiving damages that could lead to disabilities, or simply put - less complex something is - less fragile it will be under radiation exposure.

Tbh HD models are overhated So what is valve's models are better the HD models are still really good and they have a lot of charm
